Nausheen Dadabhoy: Producer/Cinematographer
Nausheen Dadabhoy received her B.A. in Film and Video Production from the California State University of Long Beach, and her M.F.A. in Cinematography from The American Film Institute. From her experiences as a Pakistani-American, Nausheen's goal in filmmaking is twofold: to make films that highlight the everyday struggles of Muslim people, and to expose western audiences to Pakistani and Islamic culture. In 2005 Nausheen traveled to the North of Pakistan to make a documentary about the victims of the October 8th earthquake. The resulting film, “The Ground Beneath Their Feet” is the story of two young women who were paralyzed in the earthquake and now must create a new life for themselves in a culture that values women as homemakers, a position that they cannot fill. The film earned Nausheen a grant from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and is currently in post-production.
Nausheen currently freelances as a cinematographer on narrative and documentary projects as well as music videos and commercials. She has experience in a variety of formats ranging from Super 16mm, 35mm and digital.
