Laila Karamally: Advisor
Laila Karamally is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s School of Social Work and has spent the last 15 years working closely with non-profits active in various fields, in Pakistan and the United States. She completed her Bachelors from the National University of Singapore and went to work as a journalist with a business daily. In 1991, she moved to Pakistan and begun a career as a leading print and broadcast journalist. At this time, she also served on the board of the Human Rights Education Program and volunteered with with several causes. In 2001, she resettled to Irvine, California where she now lives. She is currently the CEO of SHINE, a California-registered public benefit corporation which is focused on international disaster management and sustainable healthcare initiatives. In the past, she has served with agencies in the Orange County area engaged in providing services to underprivileged families and children, including Children and Families Futures, the Illumination Foundation and Families Forward.
